5 Things that can go wrong if you don’t exfoliate your skin before your tattoo appointment.
Skin care before your appointment is just as important as after.
Why?
Forgetting to exfoliate before your appointment leaves a layer of dead skin in the area about to be tattooed.
This can cause a number of issues and inconveniences that can affect how your tattoo heals.
It’s also just great for your skin in general!
The needle gets clogged with dead skin
This disrupts the flow of ink through the needle into the skin, sometimes preventing it altogether. This results in having to constantly stop to clean the needle out.
The needle isn’t able to penetrate the skin consistently
Dried skin creates an uneven surface resulting in patchy lines and shading as the needle penetrates each tiny section differently.
The needle becomes blunt much faster
It doesn’t take long for the needle to dull after constantly punching at dried dead scaley skin.
This is especially detrimental when you’re trying to keep the lines fine and sharp.
It might increase the need for a touch up
It might not be apparent when the tattoo is fresh but it could be a factor when it heals patchy and inconsistent.
With all the variables that an artist has to evaluate while tattooing you, smooth and healthy skin is one less thing to worry about.
The stencil comes off much faster
As we wipe the ink and skin with a paper towel, the dead skin will begin to shed and wipe off.
Sitting on top of that dead skin, is the stencil - the guide we need to perfect your tattoo.
Steps for smooth, healthy and glowing skin.
